Our Team: Annie J. Morgan

Overview  

Annie J. Morgan is a registered patent attorney and a certified privacy professional.

Annie counsels clients on all aspects of  intellectual property, with a strong focus on securing and protecting patent rights. She works closely with companies to develop strategic approaches for managing their intellectual property portfolios, including patent  preparation and prosecution, licensing, maintenance, and enforcement. Her practice also includes advising on trade secrets, trademarks, and copyrights.

In addition to her IP work, Annie advises clients on data privacy and security and artificial intelligence (AI) matters. She is a Certified Information Privacy Professional/Europe (CIPP/E) and International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP) member. She assists with developing privacy and AI usage policies, drafting and negotiating commercial agreements–such as data processing, data sharing and SaaS agreements–and analyzing AI-related licensing and compliance issues. Annie provides guidance on navigating complex privacy and data protection laws at the state, federal and international levels.

Known for her strategic, business-oriented approach, Annie helps clients align their legal and compliance obligations with broader business goals. With experience in both private practice and as in-house counsel at global technology companies, she brings a nuanced understanding of the legal and operational needs across industries. Her background makes her an effective negotiator and trusted advisor, capable of developing and implementing legal strategies tailored to companies at all stages–from early-stage startups to established enterprises. 

Past Experience  

Before joining West Hill, Annie held in-house counsel roles at Corning Incorporated and Hollingsworth & Vose Company. Earlier in her career, she was an attorney at Brown Rudnick in Boston, MA, and Nath, Goldberg & Meyer in Alexandria, VA.   

Education  

Annie received her B.S.E. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Iowa. She received her J.D. from the University of New Hampshire, Franklin Pierce School of Law.

Certified Information Privacy Professional/Europe (CIPP/E).
